Rugby South Africa

You have stopped at a red robot, and while waiting for it to turn green, you hear noises, screams and cheers in the far distance coming towards you, and all you can see is a white spot with a very high white stripe above it with something dangling above in the air. Is it a bird? Could it perhaps be an aeroplane? Can superman be real? Are we in attack?

A hundred thousand thoughts rushing through your mind all within seconds, wondering, panicking, and praying that the robot turns green before the ‘noise’ reaches you, in fear of the unknown. Then, suddenly, the noises and screams are echoing in your ear and you come to realize it has reached your destination and it is right next to you!

Slowly you turn your head to the left, while trying to be as inconspicuous as possible to sneak a peek, a beige object which looks like someone’s buttocks covers your passenger window completely and right smack in the middle all is revealed, a large blue tattoo of a Bull. A guy has tattooed a Blue Bull on his buttocks and is giving you and everyone else who is not a blue bull’s supporter a closer look while holding onto the back of a 4×4 vehicle filled with cheering blue bull’s supporters waving the largest blue bull flag I have ever seen around in the air high above. The only option I had was to burst out in uncontrollable laughter thinking, ‘It was never ‘Superman, but a Blue Bulls Van”, “Welcome to Rugby in South Africa”. When it comes to South African Rugby, the majority of citizens will ensure to show their support in any possible way they can, and the louder, the better, the bigger, the better.

Rugby in South Africa is undoubtedly a very loved and serious game according to all of the supporters, and who you support on the specific day of the rugby event, dictates who you surround yourself with. If South Africa cannot beat other teams at rugby we will definitely beat them with team spirit and support.
